Septuagenarian Seeks Dissolution of 13-year-old Marriage Over Constant Fighting and Lack of Care

A septuagenarian husband, Bolarinwa M., on Wednesday urged an Ado-Ekiti Customary Court to dissolve his 13-year-old marriage to his wife, Idowu, for alleged frequent fighting and lack of care.

Bolarinwa, 70, a resident of Abekoko Str., Falegan, Ado-Ekiti, told the court that his wife was fond of fighting him.
He said though they lived under the same roof, in past five months, they had been living separately in different rooms.
The father of three, said that before he got married to her, he had a son from his first wife, adding that Idowu fights with his son.
He said Idowu was fond of fighting with his relatives which made them to stop visiting him.
The petitioner claimed that there was a particular time when he was sick and when he returned home he could not find his money, house survey plan, and land receipt.
Bolarinwa alleged that when he asked Idowu, she told him that he thought he would die, adding that she used the money to abort her pregnancy.
He said sometimes last year, he fell sick again, his wife separated his children and herself from his room
The petitioner told the court that there was no more love in the relationship because “she does not take care” of him.
The petitioner claimed that the respondent always travels with her association members to functions within and outside the town and would not return for three days.
He, therefore, prayed the court to dissolve the marriage and award him the custody of the children, Ebenezer, 13, Joshua, 9, and Elijah, 6.
The President of the court, Olayinka Akomolede, adjourned the case till October 27 for the respondent to open her defence.

Akanna Okeke: 6 Ways to Make People Like You

I’ve been told numerous times that I am very likable and I have seen this for myself too.  Somehow, I just seem to obtain the favour of those around me; from bosses to teachers, to friends to colleagues.  I remember leaving my last job and there was a send off gathering where each co-worker was asked to say what they thought about me.  I got comments like: “He’s a politician”; “He’s in everybody’s camp”; “No, he’s smart and diplomatic. He knows how to please everybody and stay close to key people”.
