Flamingoes Fall To N/Korea, Crash Out Of U-17 Women’s World Cup

Nigeria women's U-17 team, the Flamingoes, have crashed out of this year's FIFA U-17 World Cup in Jordan after losing 3-0 to North Korea in their final Group C game on Saturday.

The Nigerian girls exit the tournament without scoring a single goal in three matches, having lost their opening match 1-0 to Brazil and drawn their second game 0-0 with England.

A hat-trick from Ri Hae Yon secured the win for North Korea and a passage into the quarter-finals.

Hae Yon gave North korea the lead in the 30th minute before making it 2-0 in the 45th minute.

Then in the 83rd minute she completed her hat-trick by making it 3-0.

This is the second time the Flamingoes will fail to make it out of the group stage after crashing out at the same stage at the maiden edition in 2008 in New Zealand.
In the group's other game, England came from a goal down to beat Brazil 2-1 and qualify alongside North Korea into the knockout stage.

Kerolin opened scoring for Brazil in the 36th minute but a brace from Georgia Stanway in the 47th and 60th minute from the penalty spot sealed the win for England.

After the final Group C games, North Korea top with seven points, England finished second on five points, Brazil with three points while the Flamingoes had one point.
